Dragonflies Kerala – A dragonfly is an insect belonging to the order Odonata, infraorder Anisoptera. Adult dragonflies are characterized by large multifaceted eyes, two pairs of strong transparent wings, sometimes with coloured patches and an elongated body.
Approximately 503 species of odonates occur in India with around 186 species being endemic. There are more than 460 species of Dragonflies in Kerala. Most common dragonflies find in Western Ghats are, Yellow bush dart copera marginipes, Brown backed red marsh hawk, Great blue skimmer, Ground skimmer.
