What is Green Tea ?

Green tea, a type of herbal tea that made from leaves of an evergreen shrub called Camellia Sinensis or tea plant. Production and manufacture of green-tea has spread over in Asian countries. In India, green-tea is considered as a traditional medicine. There are several varieties of green-tea.

Health Claims

Green-Tea has been used as medicine in India and China. There are many health claims surrounding green-tea. It is believed that, green-tea help to prevent wide range of ailments including cancer.

Green-Tea and Heart Attack

Research part-funded by British Heart Foundation, found that a compound (EGCG) in green-tea can break up and dissolve potentially dangerous protein plaques found in the blood vessels, and prevents heart attacks. EGCG (Epigallocatechin gallate), is found in high content in the dried leaves of green tea.

Green-Tea and Alzheimer’s

Green-Tea can enhance our brain’s cognitive functions, particularly the working memory. Researches proved that, consuming green-tea help to reduce the risk of Alzheimer’s disease.

However, the researchers used a far higher dose of the active green tea chemical than would ever be found in the human body.

Health Benefits of Green-Tea

  • Immunity Power : Green-Tea helps to increase the immunity power.
  • Green-Tea and Cholesterol : Drinking green tea enriched with catechins could help lower your cholesterol and blood pressure.
  • Green-tea and diabetes: green-tea consumption helps to control the risk of developing type 2 diabetes.
  • Dental Health : Green Tea Can Kill Bacteria, Which Improves Dental Health and Lowers Your Risk of Infection.
  • Fat Control: Green Tea Increases Fat Burning and Improves Physical Performance.
  • Cancer : Researchers believe that it is the high level of polyphenols in tea that helps kill cancerous cells and stop them from growing.
  • Stroke : Drinking green tea or coffee on a regular basis is associated with a reduced risk of stroke.

Other studies have found that green-tea might be helpful in preventing stress, chronic fatigue, treating skin conditions, and improving arthritis by reducing inflammation.
