Kolukkumalai (Kolukkumala) is a small beautiful village in the Theni district of Tamil Nadu. Kolukkumalai village is bordering Idukki district of Kerala. The hill top of Kolukkumalai is about 2,160 meter (7,090 ft.) above the sea level.

Tea Plantation
Kolukkumalai is the home to the world’s highest elevation tea plantation. Tea grown here possessing a special flavor and freshness because of the high altitude. The Tea Estate was setup by the British is functional till date. The tea estate is spread across thousands of acres and very well maintained.

There is a factory in the tea estate. The factory is still operating with the machines which established in 1935. Anybody visiting the tea plantation can visit the tea factory with an entry fees of 100/- per head. They explain the process of tea manufacturing in a detailed way.

Kolukkumala is best known for its misty valleys, colonial bungalows and tea plantations that extend in every direction. This finest area offers its visitors excellent views of Tamil Nadu’s green plains which lie alongside Kerala‘s towering hills.
The view of misty valley from top of the hills will be mesmerizing you. You can enjoy the beautiful view of sunrise if you reach the hill top early in the morning. From here you can enjoy better view than Munnar top station.

How to Reach?
Kolukkumala is about 32 kilometers away from Munnar. The hill top can be reached only by jeeps as the roads are rain drenched and uneven.
