Mostly Theyyams are performed in temples or Shrines (Kavu), and individual shrines named devasthana, across the Kannur and Kasaragod disstricts of North Kerala. Theyyams are performed in more than thousands of such shrines in a season. Theyyam Calendar is the list of major theyyam temples in Kannur.

Malayalam months and Theyyam Performance
All the Festivals related to the Hindu custom in Kerala is based on Malayalam era (Kolla varsham). There are 12 months in Malayalam era. Festival dates of the Theyyam Calendar are based on Malayalam era. Thayyam Calendar is showing Malyalam months, and representative english month and date.
The Malayalam month starts in the middle of the English month. Mostly, the first day of the Malayalam month will be on 15th of the English month. But it may vary on the length of the previous Malayalam months. Some Malayalam months will be started on the 17th of the English month. So there will be a slight change in the respective English months in each year.

Theyyam is a popular ritual art of North Malabar in Kerala State. Theyyam is performed every year in most of the shrines (Kavu) in Kannur and Kasaragod. Theyyam Calendar is the list of temples, where Theyyam is performed annually.

Thiruvappana Theyyam and Muthappan Vellattam
It is believed that, Sree Muthappan is the personification of two divine figures, Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva. Thiruvappana represents Lord Vishnu and Vellatom represents Lord Shiva. Eventhough Sree Muthappan is worshiped as a single deity. Thiruvappana theyyam (Lord Vishnu) appears with a fish-shaped crown and Muthappan Vellaattam (Lord Shiva) appears with a crescent-shaped crown.

THEYYAM TEMPLE LISTING
Theyyam or Theyyattam season begins at November and ends in May. Theyyams are performed as a part of annual festival in temples or Shrines (Kavu). As a traditional ritual art Theyyam is not a stage performance and it cannot be performed on demand.
There are more than 500 types of Theyyams performed in a season all over the Malabar region. It will be difficult to see all Theyyams in a short span of time. Most of temples conducting three or more types of Theyyam performance in a day. Following theyyam calendar help to find a temple, where theyyam is performing.
