Cherai Beach – The Princess of the Arabian sea
Cherai Beach is the golden beach of Kerala and is rightly called “The Princess of the Arabian sea”. The beach is shallow, calm and is ideal for swimming & sunbathing. Cherai Beach is just 25 km from Kochi, and 30 km from Cochin International Airport. The nearest towns are North Paravur (6 km) and Kodungallur (10 km).
The Princess of the Arabian sea
The Beach, located on the north-end of the Vypeen Island is one of the popular beaches in Ernakulam. Lined with luscious green coconut groves and paddy fields, this sandy beach is a unique combination of the sea and the backwaters, studded with seashells of various hues and shapes. Thick coconut groves and Chinese fishing nets on the waterfront are added attractions.
Boating and Sunset
Cherai is a beautiful beach with spectacular sun set. It is a lovely thing to watch the fishermen raise their Chinese Fishing nets. The whole area with the backwaters is a very relaxed place to be. Visitors can ride speedboats and water-scooter, which are available on rent.
Cherai-Beach – Significance
The real charm of Cherai is not just the beach, but also the northern end of Cherai that is more fascinating from the main beach. Here, backwaters are very close to the ocean and separated only by sandy stretch of land. The 18 km long beach is very unique as it is very clean and perfect for sun bathing, swimming, and surfing.
